Eucalyptus World Records http://www.csir.co.za/environmentek/eucbreed/records.html
Have you got the biggest/smallest/fastest/slowest/heaviest eucalypt? Week of 7 December 2001 : Local community of North-East Tasmania finds biggest Eucalyptus regnans ever.
Circumference at ground level 23.3 metres = Diameter 7.42metres. Also located in the area, are giant Myrtle (Nothofagus cunninghamii) ~11.6 metres (DBH) and some of the biggest Treeferns (Dicksonia antarctica) ~ 10+ metres tall and surely 800 years old or more. It is very likely more such world treasures will be found in the near future as there are groves of trees of similar size in the same logging coupe, 30 metres away from a new logging road. NOTE: The location is within a planned logging coupe near Weldborough, Tasmania, Australia. According to Forestry Tasmania's Forest Practices Plan (FPP), the Coupe has no special flora values and is to be cleared, felled, & converted to Pinus Radiata starting in February 2002.
